Renowned visual artist Mira Felicia Malhotra’s art is bold, colourful and loud. Unlike many artists her work stands out due to her distinctive use of colours, signature illustrations and subjects.
She is interested in depicting women “in ways that feel unfamiliar to society”, and that is evident in her work done for the ‘Nike By You’ campaign. We visited her cozy studio in the suburbs of Mumbai to discuss her work to promote ‘Nike By You’, which is a unique property by the brand wherein customers get to customize their shoes. In our inaugural episode of Craft.Spotlight she talks about her love for images, the inspiration for her project, how women play an important part in her art, and how designers should stay true to themselves.
